These systems usually require compatible boots to work effectively; for instance, Burton's Step On system necessitates Step On boots equipped with heel and toe cleats that connect to specific hardware on the bindings. The BOA Fit System has become an industry standard in recent years, offering quick and easy twist-to-tighten functionality. It features a knob (known as the Coiler™) located on the front or side of the boot, which adjusts the boot's tightness through cables or ropes routed within the shell.
